(Parsippany, New Jersey) – 26 July 2017 – While Acrow Bridge, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, does business in more than 80 countries around the world, it remains committed to manufacturing its bridges with U.S.-produced steel to the highest international standards.
Acrow CEO Bill Killeen notes, “We are proud to be an American supplier to the global bridge and transportation infrastructure community. Our commitment to customers outside of North America is the same as it is to domestic customers: With an Acrow Bridge, you get a structure fabricated to the highest standards and certifications of our industry by Acrow’s highly skilled expert team of production workers that are based in the heartland of the U.S.A. in Pennsylvania.”
Made in America
When it comes to bridge-building and other transportation infrastructure projects, it’s more than just a slogan. That’s why every Acrow bridge is made from high-quality, high-strength steel made by workers in ISO-certified mills across the U.S.
For Acrow, Made in America means using the best bridge-building technology in the world. Every Acrow bridge is based on our proprietary advanced technology platform in modular steel Acrow Bridges. And every single critical component of an Acrow Bridge is visually inspected by our quality assurance inspectors at our Milton, PA manufacturing facility before it is shipped to a customer.
For Acrow, Made in America means meeting the most rigorous certification standards in the world. Certified to the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC)’s manufacturing quality standard for steel bridge fabricators at the highest level, Acrow is also compliant with EU safety, health and environmental protection requirements, carries the EU quality assurance marking known as the CE mark, and is ISO-certified.
For Acrow, Made in America means our bridges are engineered and manufactured to the highest quality standards in material and workmanship and supported by value-added services that leverage Acrow’s deep technical expertise and extensive project management experience in bridge manufacture, supply and installation.
But Made in America involves a lot more than just Acrow and our ability to provide innovative, cost-effect solutions anywhere in the world.
Acrow bridge components are made from ISO certified U.S. steel mills. Steel is 100% recyclable and is North America’s most recycled material because steel scrap is an essential raw material in making new steel. And steel scrap is available from sources as varied as shredded cars, curbside recycling, discarded household appliances and industrial scrap.
Steel not only uses less energy in the manufacturing process than other materials such as concrete, but the American steelmaking industry has proven to be highly efficient in reducing emissions. The American Iron and Steel Institute notes: “Simply put, from an environmental perspective, the United States is the best place in the world to make steel. We have the lowest emissions and the best energy efficiency of any steelmaking economy in the world.”
Recycled structural steel also means more jobs for American workers. According to the American Institute of Steel Construction, one American job is created for every 45 tons of structural steel produced, fabricated and erected in the U.S. “At the current rate of 7.2 million tons per year, that’s a total of 160,000 jobs,” says the AISC.
